76ers' LeBron pursuit may not stop with just one James

The 76ers are bound to make this move if they win the LeBron sweepstakes.

The Philadelphia 76ers remain on the hunt for LeBron James, who is indisputably the biggest prize of free agency this year. Market rumors have them as one of the three finalists to land the megastar, giving them a real chance. If they somehow end up being successful in acquiring the living legend, their next move is pretty obvious –– to not stop at LeBron and snag another James in his son, Bronny.

Yes, you read that right –– Bronny James could very well end up being the accessory move to the principal that is signing LeBron. In fact, rumors point to multiple team executives being of the belief that acquiring the younger James is in the cards if LeBron decides to pick their respective squads, per Front Office Sports' Alex Schiffer. At this point, people should already see that coming.

Well, the Bronny factor should normally precede the actual, desired move that is luring LeBron in. However, that ship had already sailed when the latter left the former in Los Angeles. Now, to sweeten the pot, albeit in retrospect, the eventual winner of the climactic LeBron sweepstakes is surely likely to move the needle to bring his son along.

The 76ers could very well trade for Bronny if they sign LeBron James

Whoever gets to sign LeBron is going to have to recalibrate on the fly, especially style-wise. But more importantly, it is just as important to appease the superstar and his camp, which makes the projected move to sign Bronny all the more predictable and, as a consequence, an imperative.

The senior James is probably already in the last year of his illustrious career, and he would, of course, welcome the opportunity to spend his final hurrah with his son. They were the first father and son duo to be in the NBA at the same time. While they had already made history, it would be even more special if they won a championship together while being on the same team.

Lakers have a role to play in all of this

Now, the Lakers would probably recognize the situation and try to gouge the price tag of the younger James as a normal economic maneuver, but even if that is the case, he should not cost more than a second-rounder. That is an acceptable cost to acquire Bronny, especially if it could instantly bolster an eventual link with LeBron, which will aid any team in case he wants to extend his career.

The 76ers could be the team in that situation, and if they do get LeBron, then striking a deal to acquire his son Bronny will be a wise move. While it may be purely for optics, that is simply the attendant cost of getting a megastar like James, who remains someone capable of getting any team over the hump.
